Steven Gerrard was honoured by thousands of fans as they put on scarves, shirts, pins and even masks to pay in honour of the club captain who made his last appearance today for his boyhood club, Liverpool.
The former England captain, who is leaving for the Premiership side for United States‘ Major League Soccer outfit, LA Galaxy, was overcome with emotions as fans kept chanting his name before kick off as he made his way onto the pitch with his three cute daughters.
Steven Gerrard, who started his youth career with Liverpool in 1987, before making his senior team debut in 1998, has made over 700 appearances for the club along with 119 goals.
Till date, he is the only footballer who has scored in finals of the FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
