With a public holiday announced on Monday, February 9, 2015 in Ivory Coast, The Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire were welcomed by thousands of fans after ending their 22-year wait for glory against Ghana in the 2015 African Cup of Nations tournament in Equatorial Guinea.
Several supporters kept vigil at the airport and in the streets of Ivory Coast’s commercial capital, Abidjan as the players, coaches and crew paraded the trophy from the airport to the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium alongside the country’s President Alassane Ouattara to celebrate with their fans.
