The Centre for Values in Leadership CVL (founded and led by Prof. Pat Utomi) yesterday, May 26, 2015 held a colloquium for the 74th birthday of Taiwo Ajai-Lycett who was aptly described as the ‘Matriarch of the Nigerian Stage and Screen.’
The theme of the event was ‘Music, Culture and National Image: New Ways of Projecting Power’ which was moderated by Prof. Pat Utomi himself. Panelists at the event include playwright and culture communicator, Ben Tomoloju; respected actress, Joke Silva, actor, Reginald Offodile and former editor of Sunday Guardian, Jahman Oladejo Anikulapo.
So much to say and learn indeed, but the greatest, most thought-provoking ‘take-aways’ came from the honouree herself who said: ‘Actors can change the world, they can change the system… we are actors because we want to project ideas, ideas that will change the world… The problem we have in the country is the fact that a lot of people went to the university but are not educated. They have PhD but have no idea what to do with it.’
Below are pictures from the event…
