It’s safe to call Julianne Moore a veteran Oscar nominee, that is because she’s been getting nominations at the Oscars for over 17 years, since 1998 to be precise but had never one until this year’s edition.
It’s been a journey of 17 years and 5 nominations which eventually culminated into her winning her first Oscar award last night at the 87th edition of the Oscars. Last night, February 22, 2015, she won the coveted award of Best Actress for her role in Still Alice.
Julianne’s first nomination at the Oscars was in 1998 when she was nominated as Best supporting actress for her role in Boogie Nights, it might be safe to conclude that the heartache would not have been that much.
Then in 2000, she was nominated in the Best Actress category for her role in The End of the Affair.
But perhaps, the most painful year of not winning would be three years later. In 2003, she was nominated again, not once but twice, as both Best Supporting Actress as well as Best Actress for her roles in The Hours and Far From Heaven yet she ended up losing both awards.
A story in perseverance, at the 2015 edition of the glittering ceremony, Julianne smiled home with the hitherto elusive award and surely, her life would not be the same again.
