Omotola Makes Singing Return

It must be tough being married to a globe-trotting pilot; all those long hours spent apart and the anxiety of not knowing whether the one you love is safe in the skies. Even though Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde may know that feeling very well, the second single off of her upcoming studio album talks about a deeper, more intense type of yearning, a separation a little more permanent. Unlike a pilot who goes away but with the firm promise to return, Omotola’s (make-believe) cuddy buddy is gone and this time around, he’s not coming back.

The video for Missing You transitions from the bedroom to the dinner table to the bath, as Omotola and her love interest share some good times together and yes, there was a kissing scene and no it wasn’t the Nollywood-style peck-on-the-lips-while-we-are-10-inches-apart. But there was a little bit of ‘Nollywoodness’ towards the end though, when the shirtless model inexplicably disappeared into thin air before my very eyes, the only thing I could say is – ‘you can take the girl out of the ’wood but you can never take the ’wood out of the girl’.

This song will raise more doubts about Omotola’s singing career; many argue Omosexy stands a better chance selling raincoats and umbrellas in Niger Republic than marketing her music over here but one never knows, the Ije star’s star power just might be enough to make the buying public ignore her vocal shortcomings. Whatever might be the case, it does not matter much to the proud mother of four, she will keep recording her sweet music regardless.

Rumour has it that the 13-track album will feature songs with Question Mark artiste Harry Song, ace singer/producer Paul I.K Dairo and hip-hop veteran Mode Nine. So If you like what you see (and/or hear), be sure to pick up Omotola’s sophomore studio album  Me, Myself and Eyes when it hits shelves sometime in the near future.
