
Nollywood filmmaker, Obi Emelonye is set to commence production for Badamasi, a film which will chronicle the life of former Nigerian military leader, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.
Pre-production for Badamasi is scheduled to begin in March 2017 and will last till June 2017.
A look at the timeline of the film reveals that the world premiere of the film will hold on Nigeria’s Independence Day on October 1, 2017.
Emelonye, famous for some of his works like Last Flight to Abuja, Oxford Gardens and The Mirror Boy, said, ‘The time has come for Nigerians to start telling their stories. This journey started in 2013 when I watched Mandela. As I watched it, I felt proud as an African.’
‘As Nigerians, we have several historical figures who haven’t been immortalised on the big and small screens for the world to see,’ he continued.
According to the him, the film will reveal many of the ‘darkest’ events in the life of Babangida.
Badamasi will be released into Nigerian cinemas on October 1, 2017.
