Founder of Storm 360 Records and one of Africa’s creative entrepreneurs, Obi Asika, has joined the African Advisory Committee of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art in Washington DC, US.
Asika is the first overseas individuals invited to join the committee for three years in a move that is believed to enhance awareness of the museum and build audiences and supporters throughout the continent, and allow for a greater dialogue.
Speaking on his appointment, he said: ‘I am really excited about working with the Smithsonian to help them further their mission with the African diaspora. In particular, I look forward to curating a week of programming to honor and celebrate Nigeria arts and culture in 2015.’
Smithsonian Institution is a group of museums and research centers administered by the United States government. Originally organised as the United States National Museum.
