Nollywood writer, producer and actor Donald Nzubechukwu Okoli is dead, Nigerian Entertainment Today can confirm.
The filmmaker who friends and family members call ‘Don’ and was known to be ‘easy going’, was said to have passed away in his sleep in the early hours of today Friday, September 23, 2011.
The President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Segun Arinze, also confirmed the sad news. ‘Yes, he’s dead. His brother called me this morning to tell me. It’s so sad.’, a very sad Arinze told Nigerian Entertainment Today in a telephone conversation.
Full details of Okoli’s death are still sketchy but the AGN president has promised to disclose the information as soon as he is aware.
Okoli, a Degree holder in Philosophy produced his first film titled ‘Last Command’ in 1998. In 2006, he won the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) in the ‘Best Editing’ category for his movie ‘Family Battle‘.
