Nigeria’s new president, Muhammadu Buhari and first lady, Aisha Buhari did not disappoint the nation in terms of their fashion ensembles during the President’s inauguration ceremony.
They say, ‘Dress the way you want to be addressed’ and that is exactly what the latest most powerful couple in the country did.
The president oozed unlimited confidence, power and authority as he walked to and from the podium in his three-piece traditional attire, agbada with its unique bold embroidery design. He accessorised the dress with his embroidered cap, fula which has a geometry design all around it.
The President’s wife, Aisha Buhari, arguably one of the most beautiful First Ladies Nigeria has had in a while, looked absolutely gorgeous in her attire as well. She wore an orange dress and wrapped herself all up with a white veil that has a touch of orange and silver design all over it. She finished up the look with a silver head tie and a purse to match.
No doubt, our level of democratic experiment can also be measured with our traditional wears. Buhari and his wife embraced the exceptional uniqueness of our identity as Africans. Can any say they didn’t kill it?
