Nigeria’s foremost female drummer, Araola Olumuyiwa, popularly known as Ara, has stated that she is a person who puts her all into a relationship and has no problem whatsoever with marrying a younger person.
Ara, whose marriage to Nurudeen Saliu in 2009, crashed a few years ago, said she has not closed the door on the marriage institution and that she is ready to give matrimony another shot when the opportunity presents itself.
Ara in a recent interview with Punch, perhaps having learnt from the crash of her first marriage, said she is however not interested in marriage for the sake of being married. For her, everything has to be about love.
Ara added that she is not an overbearing woman and never exhibited any trait like that in her former marriage.
‘I am not that kind of person. I am the most submissive wife. I am ‘mumu’ for love. You can ask my ex, he can tell you. There was never a day I didn’t ask him what I should cook even though I was the breadwinner. I would always ask him what he wanted. And whatever he said, if we didn’t have it, I would jump on an okada and enter the market to go and buy the stuff. I am a hopeless lover,’ she said.
