The Nigerian Premier League (NPL) will now be known as the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
The change of name was made by the Interim Management Committee of the NPL.
NET gathered that the new name will take effect when the new season starts.
The 2013 season will kick off on March 9 when defending champions Kano Pillars face Wikki Tourists away.
The league features 20 teams.
