The latest band to arrive for the week long celebration of Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti is the ‘Newen Afrobeat Band’ all the way from Chile.
According to the band, ‘Newen’ means strength or the spirit that manifests itself in all things. We are the first Afrobeat Orchestra in Chile. Formed in 2009, we are the answer from this part of the planet to the style created by Fela Kuti’.
Newen is a 15-man band, they arrived Nigeria on Wednesday October 14, 2015 via Turkish Airways.
