‘Can’t leave rap alone, it ain’t easy’, – Jay Z (‘IZZO’, 2001)
When Michael Ruggedman Stephens back in 2009 told us he was hanging the towel and ‘retiring’ from the Hip-hop game after his third album, we all thought he was pulling the same stunt US rapper Jay Z did in 2003 by ‘retiring’ and returning three years later.
It’s been two years after the release of his controversial third and supposed final studio LP ‘Untouchable‘ but Ruggedy Baba is still hanging around. We are however relieved to see new material from the ‘sharp spitter’ who in recent times seems to spend more time on social networks than in the studio.
‘Ruggedy Baba part 2‘ which features Mbryo on the hook isn’t a bad song at all. But the title which follows as a continuation to the first song ‘Ruggedy baba‘ (which featured the classic chorus from fall-out friend 9ice) places a large burden on it, evidently making the song a one-time play. Decent.
