‘No idea is original, there’s nothing new under the sun, it’s never what you do but how it’s done’ – No idea’s original; Nas.
Don’t you just love it when a song you know well has been revamped and suited into another style? Don’t get it twisted, there’s a difference between that and what pop group Maintain where doing back then. The creative level of one must be high and a sense musical approach must be taken to achieve a brilliant remake or remix.
Hip-hop veterans, the gospel duo of So Kleva and Soul Snatcha collectively known as the RoofTop Mcs take on US Rapper B.O.B‘s ‘Airplanes‘ and i must say do a remarkable job of turning it around to suit their style. It was only natural to bring super producer Cobhams on board to produce and add the finishing touches to what might be a heavy comeback single.
You can distinctively hear the Yoruba folklore song ‘Eromplani‘ sung on the chorus. The message of the song is quite simple – ‘Nothing to something’.
