A 36-year-old bricklayer, Daniel Kanjo has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly killing his 24-year-old wife, Meno Kanjo in Elemoro, Ajah.
According to police investigations, Daniel stabbed his wife many times when he caught her making love to a man in the bush.
Thereafter, he also stabbed himself in the stomach and in the neck. He was discovered to be breathing when the corpses were being taken to the mortuary
The suspect who has been discharged told PUNCH that the incident was the work of the devil because he really loves his wife. He said, ‘I am from Benin Republic but I have been living in Nigeria since 2001. I have two wives. My first wife has six children for me. However in 2001, I got married to Meno (the deceased) and we have a one-year-old child together’.
Daniel urged the police to release him as the act was not intentional. The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, Damasus Ozoani said the case had been transferred to the State Crimanal Investigation Department.
