Whatever prayers he rendered for blessings in the year 2015, 48-year old Abiodun Adio would have thought it far beyond him to own a brand new car at this point of the year. Moreso, when the car in question is a sleek 2015 Range Rover Vogue worth several millions of Naira.
Adio, a commercial truck driver, was adjudged winner of the grand prize in the just-concluded Red Hot Promo by telecoms service operator, Airtel Nigeria on Wednesday, February 4 and the 48-year old presented the luxury SUV by the Chief Executive and Managing Director of Airtel Nigeria, Segun Ogunsanya, at a colorful prize presentation ceremony at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Congratulating the winner, Ogunsanya expressed satisfaction with the success of the promo and commended the company’s customers for their loyalty stressing that the company will continue to seek out avenues of reciprocation. He noted that the company remains very passionate about creating enabling platforms for its customers to achieve their dreams, which it has demonstrated by introducing the second season of the promo to continue the cycle of giving back to customers.
‘As a company which is passionate about rewarding loyalty and empowering our customers, we shall continue building credible platforms to enrich, empower and open more doors of fortune to new and existing customers,’ he said.

An elated Adio, a resident Akute, a popular suburb of Ogun State, expressed gratitude to Airtel Nigeria while describing the gesture as a ‘total turnaround in the journey of his life’.
Having been selected in the final draw conducted on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Banana Island, Lagos, head office of Airtel by leading systems audit specialist, TCQA, as witnessed by a team of journalists drawn from the print media and other stakeholders, Adio said after overcoming his initial disbelief, he has now come to realize the enormity of the good fortunes that the prize has placed on him.
Airtel drew the curtain on the promo after sixty days of the loyalty reward promo, which empowered many Nigerians across the country financially. Participation was open to all customers who simply needed to either recharge their lines or purchase any Airtel data, Blackberry, Android bundle, SMS or voice bundles. The nationwide promo produced a daily winner of N1m for 60 days as another set of 60 customers won iPads and several others.
It will be recalled that in the first edition of the Airtel Red Hot promo held in 2013, Danjuma Ibrahim Yakubu, a 40-year-old National Assembly correspondent with Radio Nigeria Precious FM, in Lafia, Nassarawa State, emerged winner of the N10m star prize.
