55-year-old headteacher, Akpolagha Agbugiye has been arraigned by the police for allegedly inserting his fingers into the private part of an eight-year-old pupil.
National Mirror reports that the incident which occurred on May 3, 2013 at Akaba, near Yenagoa, Bayelsa State had Agbugiye summoning the victim to the back of the school building and asking her to pick a pin which is a form of punishment used in schools. At this point, he pulled the girl’s pant and inserted his fingers into her private part.
On getting home, the girl reported to her parents and when examined by a doctor at the Federal medical Centre, FMC, Yenagoa, she was confirmed defiled. This was what prompted the arrest.
The case was presided over by Patricia Edouyemiekumo and Agbugiye who pleaded not guilty to the charge was granted bail with the sum of N100, 000 and two sureties residing in the state capital. The matter was adjourned till June 13 for further hearing.
