Togo‘s President, Faure Gnassingbe who has been ruling since the death of his father, Gnassingbe Eyadema, who seized supremacy in a coup in 1967, has been re-elected for a third tenure, according to reports.
By extending his family’s 48-year rule, Gnassingbe gained 59% of the vote while his strong opposition contender, Jean-Pierre Fabre, acquired 35% of the vote.
Togo was once administered by Germany then France. It celebrated 55-years of independence on Monday, April 27, 2015.
