News reaching us at Nigerian Entertainment Today is that the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has placed a ban on rapper 2Shotz’s new song ‘Superman Dead’. Apparently, the NBC did so because the rapper mentioned the word ‘Alomo’, a local alcoholic drink.
This follows the recent ban of popular highlife singer Flavour‘s song ‘Ashawo‘ a week ago. The NBC was said to have released a circular to media houses across the country.
Fellow rapper Ruggedman was the first to break the news via his twitter account @RuggedyBaba, ‘BREAKING NEWS: NBC jst banned @IAM2SHOTZ song “Superman Dead”cos he mentioned Alomo lwkmd’.
2shotz then tweeted in similar manner ‘BREAKING NEWS: NBC jst banned @IAM2SHOTZ song “Superman Dead”cos he mentioned Alomo na wah o’ via his @IAM2SHOTZ handle.
Speaking with the bearded rapper in a telephone conversation, he told our reporter that he was very surprised at the NBC and that his song compared to other ‘trashy’ songs wasn’t worth the ban. ‘I don’t understand, there are worse songs out there, how can you ban my song because I said ‘Alomo?’.
‘Superman dead’ was performed by 2Shotz and his newly signed acts Olstar and Mad Blayze .
With five albums out, 2Shotz is considered a veteran in the Nigerian hip-hop scene. The rapper is currently working on his collaboration album with his The Umunamu Group (TUG) group due for release next year.
