Former World Heavyweight boxing Champion, Muhammad Ali is ‘vastly improved after he was hospitalised with a mild case of pneumonia over the weekend.
The famed boxer, is said to be far better than the situation of last weekend, his spokesman Bob Gunnell, has said, stating his belief that ‘Ali’s team of doctors hopes to discharge him soon,’ said Gunnell.
72-year old Ali was admitted to an undisclosed hospital on Saturday and Gunnell says: ‘The Ali family continues to request privacy and appreciates all of the prayers and well wishes.’
Born as Cassius Clay, he won an Olympic gold medal as a light-heavyweight at 18 and in 1964, he became the world heavyweight champion in an upset victory against then-champion, Sonny Liston, according to Ali’s official website.
He retired from boxing in 1981 and announced his diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease three years later.
