The highly anticipated return of MTV Shuga’s latest season hit television screens everywhere last Tuesday night and it definitely did not disappoint.
While there are a number of reasons why last night’s Shuga premiere was an exciting watch, the number one factor that stood out was the show-stopping performance of the show’s newest additions.

While the returnees: Timini Egbuson, Jemima Osunde and Sharon Ezeamaka, were nothing short of excellent in their delivery, the newbies really shone through. There are more than a handful of them but each one left a memorable impression on the mind of the viewers. While they were all stunning in their roles, the stand out newbies were Helena Nelson as Diana, Adebukola Oladipupo as Faa, Abayomi Alvin as Ebisinde, Moses Akerele as Khalid and Rahama Sadau as Yasmin.Their interpretations of their roles were so remarkable and stunning and we cannot wait to see them light up our screens for the rest of the season.

One of the most memorable scenes in last night’s episode was when Tobi and Faa had transactional sex in a party which Tobi’s girlfriend, Leila, was present at. After Faa’s session with Tobi, she and Khalid, Tobi’s assistant, had a conversation that really highlighted the acting chops of both actors. Faa had another genuine moment when she was owning her role as the big sister of her two siblings. It was authentic and translated excellently well through the screen. We cannot wait to see what she’ll do in the next episode and trust me you don’t want to miss it.

Since its debut in 2009, the compelling drama series which focuses on the lives of African millennials, offering orientation on social issues like sexual etiquette, safe sex, HIV/AIDS and more has served as a manual for sexual health education to young adults across the continent.
