Chelsea head coach, Jose Mourinho has hit back at Sergio Ramos over his statement believed to have been directed at Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas.
Mourinho’s outbursts follow Ramos’ comments suggesting Costa and Fabregas claimed they had injuries which kept them out of the Spain squad only for them to turn out for their club in Chelsea’s match on Saturday, November 22, 2014.
The Spain and Real Madrid defender had questioned the commitment of certain international stars, saying he would like players to show the same commitment to the national side as they do their club after Cesc Fabregas and Costa withdrew from Spain’s squad for a European Championship qualifier with Belarus and a friendly against Germany citing hamstring and groin injuries respectively.
Reacting, former Real Madrid coach, Mourinho was quick to dismiss the comments, saying: ‘Ramos is a fantastic player, but he is not a doctor, ‘He is not a doctor and I am the same.’
He also confirmed that the medical teams of both Chelsea and Spain national team carried out scans on both players which confirmed they weren’t fit.
‘My doctor and the Spanish national team doctor, they had the scans and decided the player was not in a fit condition to play. I don’t think Sergio did a medicine masters in the last couple of years to understand it.’
