Nollywood actress Monalisa Chinda is to star in Nigeria’s first movie on autism ‘Silver Lining‘, which will premiere on Children’s day.
The premiere is in conjunction with Royal Films Academy and Patrick Speech and Language Centre, which takes care of children with speech deficiencies and autism.
The film is to premiere on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 10A Services hall, Ikoya Street, off McPherson Road, Ikoyi, Lagos at 6pm.
In the movie, Chinda (Ama) is a doting mother of an only child (junior), harboring the painful secret of her son who is severely suffering from autism from people.
Dotun Akande, the executive producer of the film and proprietress of the centre, speaks on the reason for the film; ‘We decided to put this message on film because film is a very powerful medium. This is a tool we intend to use to touch people and let them know that autism is not a death sentence, however, early intervention is key.’
The film was produced by award winning producer Emem Isong, who produced flicks like ‘Reloaded‘, ‘I’ll Take my Chances‘. The movie is co-produced by Uduak Oguamanam and directed by Tom Robson.
