Following Chidinma Mbalaso‘s death on Friday, March 25 2011, which came two days after fast rising comedian CD John, was announced dead, resulting from a ghastly auto crash; condolence messages and public sympathy have continued to greet the Mbalaso family and the entertainment industry at large.
Mbalaso, 22, who was a contestant in the 2009 HiTV-aired Koko Mansion, was building a career as a stylist and actress. She was reportedly in a coma for hours, following a tragic car crash, as friends and family members rallied round for blood donation. Unfortunately, they could not salvage the situation before she passed away.
Surprisingly, the Koko Mansion family including housemates, Mo’Hits and HiTV were conspicuously absent at the University of Abuja undergraduate’s burial held on Wednesday April 13, 2011 at her home town, Amiyi, Ahaba-Imenyi, Isuikwuato LGA, Abia State. None of the parties was interested in reacting to their absence when Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET) tried to inquire. HiTV rep, Justin Akpovi-Esade simply quipped ‘it’s a non issue you are chasing‘.
Though the cable channel had earlier expressed its shock over the death of the pretty lady; and her fellow housemates led by the winner Bolanle Okhiria also wrote a tribute piece published by Nigerian Entertainment Today, many would have thought that there would be at least one representative of the parties at Ms Mbalaso’s funeral rites – which would have also meant a representation of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Chidinma Mbalaso was reportedly on her way back to Abuja, from Kaduna where she had gone to pick up her car. She was driving back to Abuja when a motorcycle ran into her path. She was trying to avoid the motorcycle when she lost control. She died at St. Gerald‘s hospital in Kaduna.

Non-issue?!?! To pay last respect to someone? Justine, get a grip! It can be anyone tomorrow. Totally disgusted at ur response. Unless you were quoted out of context!
can’t believe that chidinma is dead is dead, just had some days ago because an serving in a village so i lack info,we use to be in thesame facalty in university of abuja,is a pity dat i never knew dat we are from thesame LGA while in school and was also buried on my birthday 13th April ahh dis life is funny, some people are celebrating while some are in sorrow ,ooohh am so sad chidi rest in perfect peace amen. ADIE My sister.
Inasmuchas we try to be sympathetic,we should as well be objective and realistic in our contribution to the issue of chidinma’s death(R.I.P.).we shouldn’t fail to remember that she was only a contestant who didn’t make it eventually.also her burial was scheduled at the period when the uprising of kidnapping was uncontrollable in Nigeria.and let’s not forget that Abia state was rated as one state with the highest incidence of the menace in the region.Mohits is an international star so i see nothing wrong in their absence, just as i agree with Justin that the pursuance of this will only lead one nowhere.finally, for all you might know, they could have made some form of financial committment to the family of the deceased as compensation for the tragedy and their absense.i mean, let’s be realistic jare!
