The 39-year-old star rushed Stephen Belafonte to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles Tuesday morning because he was in severe pain, but the film producer is now doing well.
Shortly after being hospitalised, he wrote on Twitter: ‘Thanks for the well wishes but I’m ok just put my back out! I didn’t eat an apple today!! #anappleadaykeepsthedoctoraway (sic)’
A source told gossip website TMZ.com that Stephen decided to seek treatment because he was in a lot of pain and Mel stayed by his side his hospital.
The former Spice Girls star was forced to defend Stephen last month after she was hospitalised for a mystery illness in London.
The singer – who sparked concern when she appeared on the ‘X Factor’ with scratches and bruises on her body after being released from a treatment centre, amid rumours her marriage was on the rocks – broke her silence after reuniting with her husband in Los Angeles shortly before Christmas and insisted he ‘never would lay a hand’ on her.
A source previously claimed the British star, who has three-year-old daughter Madison with Stephen, as well as daughter Phoenix Chi, 15, and Angel, seven, from other relationships, was preparing to file for divorce after a string of arguments, saying: ‘At the moment she is discussing divorce.
‘She knows this isn’t the easiest option. It’s going to be tough. But she knows her marriage is over.’
