Manchester United FC has been accused of depriving disabled fans of access to matches.
11-time Paralympic gold medalist Lady Grey Thompson accused the football club, which finished seventh on the premiership table last season, at the House of Lords question time, saying: ‘Certain Premier League football clubs such as Manchester United refuse to sell season tickets to disabled supporters and they only have 42 per cent of the accessible seating for disabled fans.’
Speaking with Sportsmail, A Manchester United spokesman was quick to refute the claims saying: ‘Manchester United makes a number of season tickets available for the club’s disabled fans. The club caters for all categories of disabled fans and the majority of these tickets are provided free of charge, with additional free tickets for carers.’
Grey-Thompson is a British former wheelchair racer and is a parliamentarian and television presenter who was born with spina bifida.
