We Nigerians are familiar with potholes and bad roads, and the long time it takes to fix them. Over in Japan though, it has taken them only two days to repair a road that was swallowed up by a 100ft wide sinkhole.
CNN reports that the southwestern city of Fukuoka worked round the clock to ensure that the affected highway was restored in 48 hours. Electricity, water, sewage, gas and telecommunication lines were all restored on the road in that time and there were no reports of injuries.
How long do you think it would have taken this sort of road damage to be fixed in Nigeria?
