The Argentine returned to full training on Wednesday, October 12 and is expected to make his comeback from a groin injury against Deportivo La Coruna in a Spanish league match this Saturday.
In his absence, the Spanish club fell to a 4-3 loss to Celta Vigo in their last league match before the international break; during which his country, Argentina failed to win the two World Cup qualifiers played, drawing at Peru before suffering a shock 1-0 loss at home to Paraguay.
Messi’s return comes with the return of Luis Suarez, Neymar, Javier Mascherano, Andres Iniesta, Gerard Piqué and Sergio Busquets from international duty.
At the moment, Barça are fourth on 2016/17 La Liga standings led by Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid with 15 points each, after seven games played.
The Spanish team will also be facing Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on Wednesday, October 19 in their Champions League group stage match in Camp Nou.
