Deputy Governor of Kaduna State Alhaji Mukhtar Yero has been sworn in as the new Governor following the death, last Saturday, of the state governor Patrick Yakowa.
The ceremony was conducted at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna, and was witnessed by members of the state Executive Council, government officials and traditional rulers.
Yero steps in as the number 1 man of the state, after the death of Governor Patrick Yakowa, who was killed in a helicopter crash on Saturday, December 15, 2012, in Bayelsa.
Meanwhile, there are indications that the late governor’s wife Amina Elizabeth Yakowa could emerge as the state’s deputy governor.
Reports say the move is being championed by a group of people who already have support from governors of surrounding states.
