Kim Sae-ron, the beloved South Korean actress best known for her role in the 2010 action thriller The Man From Nowhere, has tragically passed away at the age of 24.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the actress was discovered lifeless in her home in Seongsu-dong, eastern Seoul, by a friend who had planned to meet with her on Sunday. Authorities have confirmed that there were no apparent signs of foul play, although investigations are still ongoing. The cause of her death remains unclear at this time.
“We have not found any signs of foul play as of yet, but we are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death,” a police spokesperson said.
Kim, born on July 31, 2000, in Seoul, began her acting career at a young age, starring in a variety of films and television shows. She first garnered attention for her role in A Brand New Life, which marked her breakout as a child actress. Kim’s star continued to rise with memorable performances in films such as The Villagers, Love Playlist, The Neighbors, and A Girl at My Door. However, it was her role alongside actor Won Bin in The Man from Nowhere that earned her widespread recognition and cemented her status as a rising star in the Korean entertainment industry.
In recent years, Kim’s career trajectory faced significant setbacks. In 2022, she was involved in a high-profile incident when she was found guilty of driving under the influence (DUI) after crashing her car in Seoul. The court ruled that she should pay a fine of approximately $14,000 and revoked her driver’s license, but she was spared jail time. Following the incident, Kim issued a heartfelt public apology and reportedly reached out to those affected by the crash. However, the scandal led to her agency parting ways with her, and her career came to a standstill.
Kim made an attempt to make a comeback in 2024, but her return to acting was short-lived due to ongoing health issues. Her last known role was in Netflix’s Bloodhounds, released in 2023.
Kim Sae-ron’s passing comes just months after the death of fellow actor Song Jae-lim, who was found dead in his apartment at the age of 39 in November 2024. The tragic loss of both stars has deeply shaken the South Korean entertainment community.
