American reality TV star, Kim Kardashian, has described as scary, the hacking of Jennifer Lawrence‘s iCloud account and the leak of her nude photos online.
BBC reports that Kim advised her colleagues to be more cautious with such sensitive items, saying ‘I think it’s a big wake-up call for people to make sure they have every privacy setting‘
Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton ‘s pictures were leaked on Sunday, August 31, 2014, along with a list bearing the names of over 100 celebrities whose accounts may have been hacked, including Rihanna, Avril Lavigne, Kim Kardashian, and Mary Winstead.
Kim is all too aware of the dangers of private material getting into the wrong hands, as her sex tape with ex-boyfriend Ray J was leaked online in 2003. The reality star said she’s unlikely to be a victim of another attack.
‘It seems like there’s a lot of people that love to spend their time hacking people’s information. And that’s just a scary thing. I don’t have an iCloud account on my phone. I don’t even know where this cloud is or where all this information is that can be hacked into,’ she said.
Kardashian was named among the potential victims of the hacking but said she doesn’t even have an iCloud account.
“I deleted my iCloud account ages ago because I didn’t really understand it and I was aware that it was so easily accessible.”
The list of celebrities whose accounts have supposedly been hacked is quite extensive and celebrities including Jill Scott, Cara Delevingne, Jenny McCarthy and Kaley Cuoco have all been named as likely victims.
