Fehintola Odusina has made a remarkable entry into the fashion industry and established her own label, which she calls Phenchies Apours.
Winner of the Fashion Designers’ Association of Nigeria (FADAN) Talent Hunt Show for young designers, the 23 year-old has shown that she possesses what it takes to make it in the industry with her artistic edge; combining beautiful fabric with creative designs.
At 15, Odusina bought her first sewing machine and was encouraged by her mother to pursue her dream full throttle after seeing the determination in her. Equipped with a degree in English Language from the University of Lagos, Odusina’s love for fashion pushed her to enroll at the Model Afrique Academy, a Lagos-based fashion designing school where she has honed her skill.
Odusina however emphasizes her optimism to reach the heights in her chosen career, ‘People have really abused fashion these days. But I always tell myself that I am going into the career to add a touch of uniqueness to it.’
