David Silva and Sergio Aguero scored the goals as Manchester City became the first club to reach the FA Cup semi final at Middlesbrough’s expense.
Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho came on for Aguero but was unable to add to the 2-0 scoreline at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday, March 11.
It’s his third appearance for the club in March after falling down the pecking order behind Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane; with Jesus now out injured.
Silva put a dominant City ahead after only three minutes before Aguero got the second after 67 minutes.
The final score could have been more, but a combination of Boro keeper Brad Guzan, the post and the referee disallowing a goal ensured City were content with just the two goals.
Arsenal can join City with a win later today at home to non-league side, Lincoln.
In other FA Cup quarter-final matches, Tottenham Hotspur will host Millwall on Sunday while defending champions Manchester United will be guests of Premier League leaders, Chelsea on Monday.
