Former captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Joseph Yobo, has endorsed Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan for re-election in the 2015 general election.
The former Everton star, who is part of a political group known as PDP Ward 2 Ward Initiative, paid a visit to the President on Saturday, December 19, 2014 at the Presidential Villa for a meeting.
The former Super Eagles captain, who is presently without a club, told State House correspondents afterwards: ‘I am here to endorse Mr. President for his re-election. He has done so well for the youth. I stand here as a youth to say that he deserves a second term to push forward the good work he has started.
‘I do believe in the legacy of the transformation agenda, and that is why this ward-to-ward initiative is building on that legacy. The President has done so well. The youth now have their own power, they have their own belief and they should take their rights in their own hands.
‘The youth should come forward and believe in Mr. President. Everybody should come out to vote for him, if he is your choice, but as an individual and as a face of the youth, I recognise what he has done. The future is for the youth. We need to stand up and look into the future, not just now.’
