Ghanaian actor John Dumelo, who recently engaged Yvonne Nelson in a Twitter battle over #DumsorMustStop campaign over power outage in the country has offered to supply 10 million Ghanaians with electricity.
In a press statement released on Saturday, May 23, 2015, the actor is however said to be part of a group which has just secured a $200m grant from the World Solar Power Programme under the United Nations. The initiative will connect 10m Ghanaians through You Get A Light solar initiative if all goes according to plans.
A spokesperson from the ‘You Get A Light’ solar initiative, Anthony Duke confirmed report, says: ‘As you can see, we have the sun, and with this $200 million grant, we can develop innovative technologies to bring electricity to homes and communities in the country.’
According to reports, John and his partners are scheduled to build the programme’s first 200-acre solar farm in the Northern Region of Ghana in due time.
