A South African website, www.sundayworld.co.za has fingered Nigerian act and BET award winner, Davido in the alleged rift between one of South Africa’s finest music groups, Uhuru.
Uhuru is made up of DJ Maphorisa, Xelimpilo, DJ Clap and Mapiano, however Davido’s latest single, ‘The Sound’ purportedly featuring Uhuru and DJ Buckz of Dubai, sees only one member of ‘Uhuru,’ DJ Maphorisa represented in the video.
The websites reports that ‘the collaboration with the Nigerian star has caused tension with the group members when Maphorisa chose to miss the Glo-CAF Awards in Nigeria to shoot Davido’s video. Only one Uhuru member is seen in the footage, does this mean that DJ Maphorisa is Uhuru?
‘Where are Xelimpilo, DJ Clap and Mapiano? The video, shot in Dubai was meant to feature the group, Uhuru, however only one member is in it. It was reported that the group is on the verge of parting ways, with Maphorisa’s alleged bossy behaviour being the main cause,’ the report states.
‘There’s been a rift between them because Maphorisa thinks he’s bigger than the group. He is so busy with collaborations and producing with other African artists’, a source also added.
NET reached out to Davido’s representatives to find out if he’s aware of any rancour among the group members but they declined offering any comment on the issue.
