Popular Nollywood actress, Ini Edo has shrugged off her widely reported separation from hubby. Weeks after she confirmed her separation from Phillip Ehiagwina, claiming she sought for a divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences, the ‘I’ll Take My Chances star has moved on and opened another chapter in her world.
Confirming the split on popular micro-blogging site, Twitter, she wrote: ‘I asked for a divorce from my ex husband cos of lots of irreconcilable differences. i never cheated on my husband… There is a conscious n malicious attempt at tarnishing my image. this whole saga is familiar let’s not forget de past. thanks n God bless.’
After her confirmation, Ini further re-affirmed her single status by changing her social media account details, which formerly read Ini Edo Ehiagwin @iniedo on Instagram and Ini Edo Ehiagwina @ini4phil on Twitter to Ini Edo @iniedo on Instagram and Ini Edo @inidelicious01 on Twitter.
Embracing the life of a single lady once again, Ini stepped out of her seeming comfort zone on Saturday, October 25, 2014 to attend the 3rd edition of the annual Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards in the United States of America, where she was nominated in the Best Actress category for her role in Nkasi the village fighter.
She was nominated alongside Nse Ikpe Etim, Omoni Oboli, Chioma Akpotha, Jackie Appiah, Clarion Chuwkura and Rita Dominic, who won the award category.
Looking stunning and happy, Ini strutted her stuff on the red carpet in a black jumpsuit and heels before engaging in short chat with other Nollywood practitioners at the awards ceremony like Desmond Elliot, Emem Isong, Moses Inwang and Alexx Ekubo.
Furthermore, the actress, who was married to Phillip for 6years, will spend some days in the United States of America before returning to Nigeria.
The Glo ambassador and one of the faces of the National Open University, joins top Nollywood actresses like Funke Akindele, Monalisa Chinda, Mbong Amata and Uche Obi, who have quit their marriages over irreconcilable differences.
Ini and her estranged hubby, Phillip got married on February 28, 2009 in an elaborate ceremony that generated several controversies before it held.
