Just a few days after his spat with ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo, rapper, Eedris Abdul Abdulkareem is again swimming in another controversy.
The La Kreem/Kennis Music act recently went on a twitter tirade, declaring himself as a ‘statesman’ in Nigeria’s music circle.
Abdulkareem, a one-time bestseller and serial hit-maker, told his followers he’s the reason big acts like Psquare and Dbanj are getting paid today.
He attributed the freedom in music to his December 4, 2004 face-off with the American rapper, 50 Cent and also mentioned that his ‘jaga jaga’ song paved way for music freedom.
Once a beloved entertainer, Abdulkareem has seen his star dim, since his infamous 2004 clash with the G-Unit crew abroad an aircraft at the domestic wing of Muritala Mohammed airport, in Lagos.
‘I put it to you that I am one of the elder statesman that created employment for today’s generation of musicians…dont also forget that I am the reason why the new generation of musicians are getting paid…I am the reason why the Psquare and D’banj are all getting paid. Multinationals cant sell their products without music’, Abdulkareem, who first achieved national fame as a member of The Remedies wrote.
