Following the recent spate of deaths in Nollywood, the President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Ibinabo Fiberesima has set up a ‘Benevolent Fund’.
Miss Fiberesima says she was moved to set up the fund because of the recent predicaments that have befallen actors making them hardly able to cater for themselves and family or pay for their hospital bills.
‘In the short time I have been in this industry, I have seen a lot of suffering and I feel it is about time that we begin to support each other, both in good times and in bad times. This is the main reason why this fund has been set up’, Fiberesima stated.
While appealing for the support of well-meaning Nigerians towards the success of the fund, she further said that the Benevolent Fund will be granted to revalidated members of the guild who require medical attention or otherwise prevented from working by circumstances beyond their control.
