Singer Slam may have taken up a secondary career as a PR practitioner, but he insists there’s no way he’s giving up his first love – music.
Speaking with our editors today, in a telephone conversation, Slam told Nigerian Entertainment Today that although he now has a day job, he is still recording songs and by choice has decided to lay low until he is ready to unveil his project.
NET: Good day Slam, is it true that you have quit music for a day job?
Slam: No it isn’t, I’m still doing music recording. I’m quite surprised to hear some say I’ve quit music
NET: When was the last time you put out a song or record?
Slam: My last album ‘Simply Slam’ was in 2009 but I have had a single out since February 2011.
NET: What have you been up to?
Slam: I just signed a management deal with Now Muzik and I’m currently working on my next album, my single ‘Lost without love’ is already on the airwaves.
NET: But you have been quite silent since you returned from the UK, haven’t you?
Slam: I’ve been on the low quite alright but I’ve been recording a lot of soundtracks; I’ve recorded soundtracks for Nollywood movies like ‘Bursting Out’, ‘Spellbound’ and Monalisa Chinda’s ‘Kiss and Tell’.
NET: Do you work at Synthesis Communications and for how long have you worked there?
Slam: I worked there for over a year but I no longer work there even though I have investments, I now work at Quadrant Company; it’s also a PR/consultancy firm.
NET: How come they (Synthesis Communications) still have you listed on their website?
Slam: You know companies, they might not have updated their site since my departure, that’s why I’m still listed.
NET: Why did you leave the company?
Slam: I have not practically left, like i said earlier, I still have investments there.
NET: How do you combine your busy schedule at work with your music?
Slam: Work gives me the opportunity, talking about finances and also meeting people in the field.
NET: What are you doing in the studio right now?
Slam: Right now as I speak to you, I’m recording a soundtrack for the ‘I’ll take my chances’ movie which stars Ini Edo’.
NET: Thank you Slam.
Slam: The pleasure is all mine.
