Whatever she means by saying that, Nikki Laoye has said she doesn’t want to be viewed as the typical Nigerian gospel artiste.The singer stated this in an interview with Vanguard, revealing that she’s an urban contemporary artiste who want to be visible.
‘Everyone knows by now that I am not the typical Nigerian gospel artiste and this is well within the scope of my music. I am an urban contemporary artiste; this is noticeable right from my first album, Angel 4 Life.
Born Oyenike Laoye-Oturu, Nikki rose to fame in 2006 with the hit single, ‘Never Felt This Way Before’ from her debut studio album, Angel 4 Life and has gone on to win a number of awards since launching out.
