Spain’s Carla Suarez Navarro had the last laugh after coming from a dreadful set defeat to thump out Venus Williams in the quarter final clash of the Miami Open tournament on Tuesday, March 31, 2015.
Carla who began playing Tennis for Spain in the 2008 Fed Cup, came from 0 -6 defeat in the first set before bouncing back to a triumphant victory with 6 – 1 and 7 – 5 in both sets.
Carla Suarez Navarro who is currently ranked as World No. 13, will face the younger sister of Venus and World’s No.1 Serena Williams who was recently presented with a giant cake after recording her 700th career win to advance to the semi final clash of Miami Open tournament.
Had Suarez lost, it would have been a Serena-Venus Williams finals.
