
Nigeria’s fashion label, Maki Oh is proving to be a hit among Hollywood’s fashion forward figures. Lupita Nyongo’o is the latest to wear two classic hand-painted and hand-dyed pieces by the designer and champion of Adire – the traditional Yoruba art of dyeing cloth with natural indigo.
The Oscar winning actress, currently on her much talked about ‘Homecoming’ tour – her first since winning the movie industry’s top award for her breakout role in 12 Years a Slave – returns to Kenya with a mission to become an advocate of wildlife conservation.
She has since been named a global elephant ambassador. But not without dazzling in outfits designed by Maki Oh, the first African designer the actress has worn at an event in her native Kenya.
Founded by Maki Osakwe, the produly Nigerian eponymous fashion label is internationally known for its strong sense of individuality and African identity.
