Ivory Coast goalie, Boubacar Barry has revealed how he played in the final match of the 2015 African Cup of Nations against Ghana with a broken finger.
Speaking in a recent interview with Ivory Coast media, the Lokeren goalkeeper made the disclosure by saying:
‘I had played my last game on 27 December, 2014. During the camp, I sustained some minor injuries and it had not been easy for me.
‘I played this final with a half-broken finger. But now, the most important is that Côte d’Ivoire are happy.’
The former Beveren goalkeeper, who joined the national team in 2000, saved one spot kick and won Ivory Coast the 2015 African Cup of Nations by scoring the winning penalty in the final against fellow West African nation, Ghana.
Boubacar Barry has so far made 86 appearances for Ivory Coast and will treasure the gold medal that lies in his cabinet as reward for his exertions in this year’s tournament.
