Even as budding comedian CD John‘s (who died yesterday morning) body is still lying lifeless at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) morgue, awaiting funeral rites; the death of Chidinma Mbalaso of Koko Mansion fame this morning Friday, March 25, 2011 has deepened the sorrow of the Nigerian Entertainment industry .
The news of Kokolette Chidinma’s death was first believed to be untrue as the winner of the 2009 Koko Mansion, Bolanle Okhiria tweeted ‘it’s a rumour’ through her Twitter account.
But few hours later, Okhiria realized that her friend was no more.
‘Now it’s true, I just confirmed it like an hour ago from a friend who is close to her. Please can we talk later? I’m not in a good mood right now‘, she tells NET on the phone.
The management of HiTV, producers of the Koko Mansion reality show, have expressed their shock over the sad news of the young lady’s death. The late Chidinma was one of the four finalists in the Koko Mansion to have shown exemplary character during her stay in the house.
In response to NET email, the cable channel through its public relations manager Justin Akpovi-Esade says:
‘HiTV family is deeply shocked on receiving the news of the death of Kokolette Chidinma. This is indeed a trying time for the nation’s entertainment industry with the death of upcoming comedian CD John just yesterday morning. We pray she rests in peace and God should grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss‘.
Condolence messages and reactions to Mbalaso’s death are flooding social network sites – Facebook and Twitter and BlackBerry users are receiving broadcast messages in turns. While some have changed their display pictures to either the young lady or the late comedian CD John – the two youths whom the entertainment industry lost in 48 hours.
‘Just heard about the death of another young girl Chidinma who was a part of Koko Mansion. Pls ppl intensify prayers for our industry‘; actress Stella Damasus tweeted.
Surprisingly, Koko Master D’banj was unaware of Kokolette Chidinma’s demise until NET contacted the Mo’Hits house as his manager Sunday Are told us they did not hear about it.
‘My brother I didn’t hear about this until now. We had a show last night; I even slept over at D’banj’s house. I’m just hearing this from you and another journalist that called just before your call-in. It’s a sad one. Another talent is gone. This back-to-back death is getting too much‘, Sunday Are confessed.
The 22-year-old participant in the Dbanj/HiTV reality show Koko Mansion, was returning to Abuja in her newly acquired car when a motorcyclist carelessly crossed the road; and in a bid to maneuver, she lost control, we learnt.
