It’s a known fact that Burna Boy has history with the late Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo Kuti. His grandfather Benson Idonije is often referred to as Nigeria’s most revered music critic and first manager to Fela.

During his performance this weekend at the Lagos Jazz Festival, Burna Boy, paid tribute to his famous grandfather as he gave a moving speech about his grandfather explaining how much of an influence he’s had on his life and career, then he went on to perform a few songs for him.

Burna Boy‘s performance at the 2013 edition of Felabration where he stripped to his underpants while performing his hit song ‘Run my race‘ is still fresh in the minds of many.
