The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has named Awkward star, Greer Grammer, daughter of Kelsey Grammer and ex Barrie Buckner, the Miss Golden Globe 2015.
‘It will be an honour to be on a stage where people are winning this esteemed award,’ the actress said at a party co-hosted by the HFPA and In Style at Fig & Olive restaurant in West Hollywood.
But Greer, who attended USC and was Miss Regional California Teen in 2011, has had old Hollywood glamour in her blood from day one. She tweeted in 2009, ‘watching a movie w/ Greer Garson in it. she’s the actress I was named after. she’s absolutely radiant. I can only hope to live up to the name.’
She is the second of Kelsey’s six children from four different relationships.
Greer, whose full name is Kandace Greer Grammer, also thanked her mother for being her rock and both of her parents for supporting her choice to pursue an acting career.
In a statement, she also said, ‘I am flattered to have been chosen by the HFPA for this year’s Miss Golden Globe. It’s truly an honor to be included in this experience that so many incredible men and women have been a part of.’
Miss Golden Globe selections over the past 10 years include Dakota Johnson, Rumer Willis and both Kathryn and Francesca Eastwood. Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick‘s daughter Sosie Bacon did the honors last year.
The 72nd Annual Golden Globes airs live on NBC from the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday, January 11, 2015. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are returning as co-hosts.
