President Goodluck Jonathan had his seventh Presidential Media Chat on May 4, 2014 at the State House. Hours later, social media has gone bunkers recalling some of the statements from Nigeria’s number one citizen during the media chat.
One peculiar statement was his explanation of the ‘missing’ $20bn oil money. GEJ explained that it was ‘a phenomenon’ for any Nigerian government in power to record a story of missing funds. He further explained that if such amount of money is missing, ‘America would know about it’.
‘If Sanusi hadn’t been suspended he would have come up with a different figure… If anyone steals $50 billion or $20 billion anywhere America will know, they will tell you where it is; it is their money‘, GEJ told the world.
His ‘America Will Know‘ statement has become a hot topic on social media in the past few hours since the chat ended, with the hashtag #AmericaWillKnow becoming the centre of almost every discussion. It eventually became the number trending topic in Nigeria.
