In view of the recent spate of violence in some parts of northern Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan has declared a state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.
This, the President declared in his broadcast this evening, Tuesday, May 14, 2013, on the stae of the nation.
‘In my capacity as the commander-in-chief of this country, I hereby declare a state of emergency on Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states‘, Jonathan said.
The President also stated that more military forces will be deployed to the affected states as the government’s plans to curb and combat the activities of the dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram.
In the last few years, the terrorist activities of the Muslim sect, Boko Haram have been a big problem for the government and people of Nigeria, as their activities has led to the deaths of thousands of people, particularly in the north, with fears the menace could spread to the south
