It has been revealed that several Premiership football stars could be facing an advertising watchdog probe for promoting Adidas products via their Twitter accounts.
This comes after the football stars that are being sponsored by the brand, posted messages within the same minutes, turning the social media networking site into an advertising platform to promote the sales of Adidas products.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson has released a statement, insisting that the Advertising Standards Authority is yet to receive complaints about the promotional tweets, but if any arises it will be investigated.
‘If we receive complaints that tweets have broken rules, we will investigate, marketing communications must be obviously identifiable as such.’
Players found in the act include Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard; Arsenal forward, Theo Walcott; Manchester City’s David Silva, Everton’s Phil Jagielka and Manchester United defender, Phil Jones among several others.
